December 5. Day 339. Ready to fly

"Christmas time is here by golly. Disapproval would be folly. Deck the halls with hunks of holly. Fill the cup and don't say when..." Tom Lehrer's Christmas Carol was regularly quoted by my dad and in his memory I will be able to raise a glass of something substantial this Christmas. Today I was finally able to put the whole hepatitis thing behind me (well almost). At my specialist appointment this morning, I was told my liver function is now back to normal and a glass of bubbles at Christmas is fine. A liver MRI next Tuesday will be final confirmation but this girl is ready to fly. To be clear there are far worse things than not having a beverage ... such as two months of feeling like death. If you ever want a good reason not to drink to excess, a little taste of what  damaged liver feels like is evidence enough. But it is the season to be jolly and a little drink never hurt anyone (a big drink, well that's another matter. The aftermath of that hurts a lot). So with medical approval I now get to spread my wings just a little bit. Up, up and away Susan. It's the silly season after all.
